Graduation Trip- Bangkok(Grand Palace and Shopping)

Grand Palace is the place we visit on the second day of our trip. Just like its name, the palace is so GRAND ie HUGE! and ya, since it is a palace, it served as as the official residence of the Kings of Thailand from the 18th century onwards. (Well, of course the King not staying at there anymore..if not the royal family will get mad with the tourists’ noise). Construction of the Palace began in 1782 so besides Grand, it is also an old building. Within the palace complex are several impressive buildings including Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), which contains the small, very famous and greatly revered Emerald Buddha that dates back to the 14th century. The Palace is however still very much in use; as many royal rituals are performed here by the King every year. Other royal ceremonies celebrated here are coronations; royal funerals, marriages and state banquets.(Information from HERE and Wikipedia)

The admission fee is 350THB which includes admission to Grand Palace, Vimanmek Mansion and several other sights around the area. Oh ya, I would like to remind those who wish to visit Grand Palace during your Bangkok trip, the palace is open from 8:30am and becareful of the touts working outside the palace area who tell you its closed or the Thai is having their workship inside and suggest their own guided tour instead, never ever trust them as they are lying to you.

Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew are the most sacred sites in Bangkok. So, we must be properly dressed before entering the site. We were wearing shorts so we need to rent a sarung from there with deposit 20THB. (I need to rent sarung even though I was wearing legging).

From there, u can see how big the palace is.

I think one of the reason the palace named after Grand Palace is because the buildings,
pagoda were mainly decorated with gold or gold color paint.2011_0624bangkok0166_副本Even the mural painting contain GOLD!!2011_0624bangkok0170_副本 Love this pixxies. Me with Nana.

Due to the hot weathers, Wat Arun(Temple of Dawn) and the Wat Po(Temple of Reclining Buddha) are deleted from our itinerary as my friends craving for aircond, thus we decided to skip those sights and move to Platinum Fashion Mall to have our lunch and shop. Hmmm, I should pay a visit to Bangkok and visit both of the temples, since sightseeing is the best way to know a country/city!!

2011_0624bangkok0210_副本 Coconut drink is the best drink in the world when you feel dehydrated.

Isshh, I forgotten to snap a picture of the exterior part of Platinum Fashion Mall. Grrggghhh~
We went to the sixth floor and have our lunch. Fyi, we need to buy a prepaid card before we order the foods.

2011_0624bangkok0211_副本 Toh Yen Fu noodle soup which is pinkie red in colour.
It is nice to eat. My noodle soup is spicy because I added chili.
I saw some Thai added sugar into their noodle soup~

Very sweet and refreshing~

After we feed our tummy with nice yummy foods, we begin our shopping journey!!No pictures were taken as I was busy shopping around and looking at those nice clothes~ The clothes are not cheap if you only buy a piece of clothes from the shop, so to get the retail price you need to buy more than ONE clothes!!Oh ya, retail price is applied when you buy 2 clothes(or more than that)in a shop.

So, Ling’s expression had showed you guys how happy we were after the day!!

Pratunam is the shopping paradise area for everyone. But too bad I only had the chance/time/money(i only bring 530oTHB to Bkk for the 5D4N trip, kill me!!) to visit Platinum Fashion Mall~I miss MBK shopping mall, Siam Paragon, Erawan, etc etc...I should learn a lesson from this and revisit Bangkok with sufficient time/money!!!!*finger cross*

That’s all for today.
P/S: I think this is a lousy post as I din hav much pixxies to share and much words to type!
Sorry my dearie~
