BB Hanoi Hostel

Chinese New Year celebration officially comes to an end. Wish my readers a good Horse year ahead!
So, I update my blog with a review of BB Hanoi Hostel before I fly to HK.

After I purchased the air ticket to Hanoi, I google and dig useful Hanoi travel information from Cari forum as usual, at first was planning to book Hanoi Guest House or Rising Star Dragon Hotel as recommended by the travellers in Cari forum, then my mother told me that she booked the first night accommodation at BB Hanoi Hostel through Agoda.

Then, after going through the positive reviews in Trip Advisor and Agoda page, we decided to stay and take tour packages from BB Hanoi Hostel throughout our trip. So, I am the one in charge of contacting the hostel and our deals are inclusive of:
1) Stay in Family Room at USD29/night, inclusive of breakfast and extra bed.
2) 2D1N Halong Bay Christina Suite Cruise at USD85/pax
3) 2D1N Mai Chau stay at tilt house at USD60/pax
4) Free airport transfer to hostel

Besides the good feedbacks in Trip Advisor, the way Tony(manager of BB Hanoi Hostel) communicate with me in the emails, makes me and my mum secure with the booking. From the words, we felt that Tony and his staffs are friendly and willing to help. And, in real, they are!

Tony will sit at here and introduce the tour packages to his customers.
We love to sit at the lobby to online and had our supper with Hanoi Beer.DSCF9927The small place for us to take breakfast

Room
BB Hanoi Hostel is a tall, narrow building(just like other buildings in Vietnam) with 6 floors and each floor have 3 rooms.
DSCF9931There is a lift in BB Hanoi Hostel.
So don’t worry if you are staying in the highest floor.DSCF0383_副本Our family room with 1 single bed and 1 double bed.
The mattresses are quite firm, but we still slept soundly.dscf0384_副本The bathroom that equipped with toiletries.

BB Hanoi Hostel is located at the Old Quarters of Hanoi town. Walking distance to the night market, Hoan Kien Lake and Water Puppet Theatre. So my advice is, if you want to be near to all the tourist spots in Hanoi, stay in Old Quarters. Accurately, stay in BB Hanoi Hostel.

I felt like I was travelling from home to another home, Tony and all his staffs welcome us with big hands and a warm smile when we check in, when we back from our Halong Bay and Mai Chau trip. I sprained my right ankle on Day 2 in Halong Bay, then once I back to hostel, Tony brought me to the pharmacy store next door to buy the Salonpas patch. His staff also get us a few packs of green tea(nice one!) at cheaper price.

Thanks for the great hospitality!

How you spend your days during the CNY break?
I spent my days in monastery, stayed in monastery for 2 nights, then for sure take the meals with my beloved family, and yumcha with my bff.

I just back from attending Snake Bite& Envenomation Course in JB, departed early and reached home late. Super tiring... but again, I benefit a lots from this course it is the best course I attended so far.

Hanoi Trip November 2013

Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam since hundreds years ago. I always wanted to visit Halong Bay and my uncle advised me to go at year end, so tadaa, Hanoi here I am in the month of November.
Unlike HCM trip that I travel by Free and Easy, I took tour packages(2d1n Halong Bay Cruise tour and 2d1n Mai Chau tour) from BB Hanoi Hostel.
I definitely will revisit this beautiful country again. Next will be Central Vietnam.

This is the itinerary for my 6days 5nights Hanoi Trip from 20-25 November.

Day 1
Check in BB Hanoi Hostel(Highly recommend this hotel). Walk around Old Quarters. “Lunner” at Highway 4 Restaurant. We stayed at Family Room with breakfast at USD29/night and Tony, manager of hostel gave us a free airport transfer to hotel.

Day 2-3
Check out BB Hanoi Hostel and joined the 2 days 1 night Halong Bay Tour with Christina Cruise(USD85 per person). Back to BB Hanoi Hostel on the 3rd day after lunch in cruise.

Day 4-5
Check out BB Hanoi Hostel and joined the 2 days 1 night Mai Chau Tour(USD60 per person). Stayed at tilt house. Back to BB Hanoi Hostel on the 3rd day after lunch.

Day 6
Bye bye Hanoi.

Wayfarer Guest House, Melaka

Wayfarer GH is actually an old building(formerly known as Hock Chiang Rubber Co. Limited Enterprise) which is then turned into a family run Guest House.
20131026_120318_副本20131026_120331_副本20131026_120342_副本Common Guest Area and the Air Well,
well decorated with antique collection.
Vintage style.

We are given a air-cond control, and some brief explanation from the receptionist upon checked in. We are told to walk gently on the wooden floor to avoid unnecessary noise to other residents.

Layout of the GH(taken from official website)

We booked Room 9(Colonial Standard), but was told that our booking is changed to Room 7(Standard Suite) due to a I-forget-why reason.Well, I am ok with the change. Room rate is the same for both Room 7 and 9, which is RM170 per night. Note that, pre-payment of 50% of the room rate is required to confirm your reservation
Nah, is time to explore our Room 7.

The nicest part is 2 pillows for each of us. <3 pillows!20131025_181925_副本20131025_180848_副本I love this vintage wooden door for bathroom.
Looks heavy but I fall in love with it at first sight.20131025_180837_副本Clean bathroom with hot air shower.

Seriously love to stay here lo, the air-cond is so chilling, with the comfy bed, and super fast free wifi connection, we had our sweet time doing nothing here. Definitely will stay here again if I have plan to overnight in Melaka in the future.
We slept until 11am on the second day, and so sad that we had to check out at 12pm. We saw some rooms are left unclosed, so we sneaked in and took pictures of other nice rooms.

Room 6 Artist Suite
Room 6 is a river view room, which have a King Size bed and private balcony for you to sit down and relax while enjoying the beautiful view of Melaka River. Should I stay at suite with river view during my next visit? Hmmm~
20131026_115803_副本20131026_115736Another eye catching bathroom door and clothes hanger.

Room 5 Trader Suite
I think room 5 is the largest room in this GH. It is a street view room with 1 King size bed and 2 single bed. You will see a king size bed once you opened the door and 2 single beds are located at the mezzanine floor.
