Accommodations at Taipei

Today, I going to write a review on the homestay in Taipei where I spent my 3 days 2 nights at.
A lots of people will choose to stay in Xi Men Ding or Taipei Main Station during their vacation in Taipei, but hmm, Go!Mitty is a weird person, I was looking for a place that near to Eslite Dunnan Branch(誠品敦南店).  Why? I love to read, and that is the only 24 hour bookstore in Taipei, so, of course I won't miss the opportunity to grab some books from there.

There is not much choices of hostel in that area, some are shared bathroom(I went with my mother) or too expensive. At the end, I found a nice room through 自在客(something like our Airbnb in Taiwan). I sent a message to Elaine(the owner) through Line and she was kind and patience enough to assist me in the booking process.

Facilities and Service
SIMPLE AND NICE!
Taipei Easy Home offers 3 types of houses: 白色满屋,绿野仙踪,简约乐活风 and we stayed in 白色满屋 as Elaine told me that the room is the biggest and comfortably fit for four of us. I like the room so much, because it is simple and clean. Wifi signal is strong and there is a washing machine in the bathroom and we happily washed our clothes upon arrival.
Elaine is a kind lady, she actively message us to ensure we arrived safely and also gave suggestions on the nice places for sightseeing, hotspring and foods. She even allowed us to have late check out.

Location
SUPERB!
It located within the building right next to ZhongXiao FuXing subway(忠孝复兴站) exit 1. SOGO shopping mall is just opposite our home, my favourite Eslite bookstore is just 1 subway station away or 15 minutes walking distance), and the most convenient part is that the airport shuttle bus station is just 1 steps away from our home. Most tourists shop at Xi Men Ding but we actually found that lots of locals shopping at the stores around this area.

So that all on my wordy review part, let explore this little heaven that I named it as my 温暖小窝 with pictures.
This is what we saw once we opened the door.
A double bed and a sofa bed.
A sofa, water dispenser and the shelf that we can put our luggages at.
Out of my surprise that, there is a mini fridge.
The space in front of our beds.
We still have space to walk around in the room
after we set up the sofa bed. Spacious enough!
Bathroom is located on the right side of TV.
Clean bathroom with dry wet separate shower area.
Heater, hair dryer and washing machine are provided.

So, Go!Mitty concluded that, the room worth every single penny you paid for it and I am planning for a solo trip to Taiwan and Taipei Easy Home is in my list if I going to revisit the city.

Accomodation at Alishan

Hmm, I feel so paiseh to upload this post because I booked the hotel through my guide so I forgot to ask about the name of the guesthouse. And most embarrassing part is that, this is an overdue post, 1 year!! OMG! Need to rush all the accommodation parts out so that I can write blog post for my Turkey trip.

The guesthouse just located the Alishan city centre and just in front of Alishan railway station. Before my departure, I found out that, all the illegal GH in Alishan are forced to close down that why I couldn't book the GH on my own and I seek help from my guide. The owner is kind enough to borrow us big coat, as we didn't bring the enough winter wear for the sunrise trip next day.

So, this is the Family Room for four of us.
Room is spacious and basic.
 2 queen size double bed.
Bathroom comes with small bathtub and hot water supply.

I like the way they fold the blanket.
Macam karipap, or some say sandwich.

Accomodation at Qing Jing

After having a nice sleep at the cute room in Fengjia, and an exciting day in Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village, we moved to Qing Jing. There are a lots of Western Style Farm House at Qing Jing, and I decided to overnight at Guan Xing Yuan (观星园),which located at the highest point(2106m) of Qing Jing.

There are 3 types of rooms available in Guan Xing Yuan: Double, Quadruple or Six People Rooms.
We stayed at the Quadruple Room at the rate of NTD 3300, inclusive of steamboat dinner and breakfast. I paid NTD 1500 deposit to them through the paypal service.

Official website of  观星园 at HERE.

We get a room at the second floor. Room name: Bai Wen Cao (白纹草). Need to make sure the door close tightly else the bugs will fly into our rooms.

Our spacious room with 2 queen size double bed.
That is the door leads to balcony.
Bathroom with separate wet and dry area.
Hot water supply is warm enough.
This is a guesthouse but hair dryer and toothbrush, toothpaste etc are well prepared.
Thoughtful.
This is what I like about GH in Taiwan.
Balcony of the room and the magnificent view.

The dining area.
Our barbeque dinner. Bottomless rice and 大白菜 supply.
Our simple breakfast with toast, salad and coffee.
Small portion for a big eater like me.
 Guan Xing Yuan main building.
The night and morning view.
You can have this panoramic view of Qing Jing at the platform
right in front of the main building of Guan Xing Yuan.

Go!Mitty personal review on the stay:
The Quadruple Room that we stayed in was spacious, and it comes with a balcony that overlooking the mountain. With NTD 825 (less than RM100) per person, we get a nice room, with nice steamboat and breakfast, I have no much to complain. Saw a lots of Malaysian gave positive reviews for the owner of this GH, but to bad Mitty and friends didn't experience the warmest greeting from the owner. But, still I enjoyed the stay. Woke up to watch the sunrise but too bad, we didn't have the luck. However, the beautiful scenery did amazed me.
If you ask me will I stay in this GH when I revisit Qing Jing, I will say no because I would like to have a night in other Western Style farm house.

Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village

Before we departed for the trip, my friends told me that we shouldn't spend one day in Fromosan Aboriginal Cultural Village as we only have 6 days in Taiwan, so they advised me to spend one day in Hualian. But, I know that we love cultural shows so I just stick to our original plan. And, I think we make the right choice.

We enjoyed our time at this Cultural Village, the cultural shows are nice(love their singing, and we even bought the CD) and the rides are thrilling too.
Admission fee: NTD780 (adults), NTD 390(children under 12 years old)
The village opens at 9am, but the rides only start operating at 10am.
You can check out the operating hours and shows time at their website HERE.

Before I starts with my story, I should introduce you all with a new vocab: NARUWAN.
Naruwan have multiple meanings and is a must learn vocabulary in this cultural village.
Naruwan means "Hello", "Welcome" and "Good Bye"

We reached the village at 9am, to watch their daily welcoming dance. They will invite the visitors to join their welcome show. One of the visitor will become the head of tribe, and they will lit up the fire. Everyone are welcomed to cross the fire bowl(!?) before entering the village, kinds of blessing I guess?

Another show at Formosan Aborigines Square- Ritual Theatre (11am). This is the time they performed dances/singing during different rituals(eg like Welcoming Back their Warriors Dance) , narrator in Chinese was available.

There are 2 cable car lines within the cultural village area. 1 is Formosan Cable Car line where you can have the panoramic view of the cultural village, another 1 is Sun Moon Lake Line that welcome us with the panoramic view of the lake.

View from Formosan line cable car

This is a cultural village for the aborigines, so they have areas to exhibit the cultures and living house for difference tribes (eg Ami, Paiwan, Bunun, Rukai etc).
Ami girl was making muachi
Gomitty was trying hard to punch on the muachi douche

Exhibition area for the tribes

You can skip other cultural shows in the village but you shouldn't miss the one at Naruwan Theatre(130pm, 3pm). Information showed that this theatre is showing the complete set of aborigines' culture.

We left the village after the 3pm show at Naruwan Theatre and off to Qing Jing. So, next blogpost will be about Qing Jing Farm.

PS: I only blogged about the cultural shows available in this village, as there are the reason I put this into my travel itinerary, Enjoy reading,

Accommodations at Feng Jia, Tai Chung

This is the first hotel review(accurately is guest house review) for my Taiwan trip.
We spent our first night in Taiwan at 逢甲幸福Sweet House.  This guest house is located right in front of Feng Jia University.  This guest house offers a variety of rooms with very cute interior design at cheap price. We booked the 清新萊姆(四人房) at TWD1480 per night. (Original price was TWD1580, and I like their Facebook page, so we got a TWD100 discount). The reason I picked to stay at here because the room is cute(I was attracted by the elephant soft toy in this room), and unlike other guest house, they didn't request for deposit, which is very convenient for foreigner travelers  like us. As return of this privilege given by the owner, kindly inform the owner if you decided to cancel your booking.

FB page of the guesthouse: Sweet House逢甲幸福住宿 - 台中住宿/逢甲住宿/逢甲Sweet House
The hotel is just at the valley in front of Feng Jia University.
I was frightened when the person in charge lead us to the building.
Anyway, I feel relax when I stepped into their unit.
There is 7 or 8 rooms in their unit, water dispenser machine is available at the corridor.
We were given 2 keys, one for us to enter the unit,
another one is the room key.
We were so excited to see this cute and warm room.
Arrrgggh, the elephants!!! So cute~~~
Feels like buying one for myself.
The room wasnt big, but is enough for 4 of us.

We checked in late(around 830pm and check out early on the next day).
TWD1480 for one night stay, worth it lah~

Basic amenities provided in this guesthouse:
Toothbrush&toothpaste, shaver, shower cap, cotton buds, skin lotion(ya, they provided that!),
mineral waters for four of us, reusable paper towels and normal towel.
Bathroom is small.
So, my advise is that, put your clothes in a recycle bag and hang it behind the door if you don't want your clothes to get wet. Body and hair shampoo are provided. Sanitary system in Taiwan is different from ours, so do not throw used toilet paper into the toilet bowl.

So, that's all for my review on this hotel.
End the post with my favourite elephant soft toy.
